Lavender Aromatherapy Eases Post Operative Pain for Women who underwent Cesarean Surgery.
Research conducted at the Golestan Hospital in Iran chose to investigate the effects of inhalation of an aromatherapy blend containing lavender essential oil on caesarean post operative pain.
The study involved 60 women who were in Hospital for cesarean surgery and these women were randomly divided into two groups: lavender aromatherapy group and placebo group.
Results of the research revealed: women in the lavender aromatherapy group, their use of analgesic (Diclofenac)suppositories to provide greater pain relief was only 43.3 percent compared to the placebo groups' use was a significantly higher 76.7 percent. The research findings provides further supportive evidence for the use of lavender aromatherapy as part of a multidisciplinary approach of pain management for post natal mothers after caesarean section.
